Overview
The FDGE11 series is an outdoor, single-phase dry-type discharge coil for medium-voltage shunt capacitor banks. Connected in parallel with the capacitor bank, it provides a discharge path after switching to reduce residual voltage within the required discharge time.
The coil uses a fully sealed post-type structure with vacuum-cast epoxy resin insulation. Secondary windings can provide voltage indication, measurement, or residual-voltage signals for protection, with the final winding arrangement, accuracy class, and burden specified according to project requirements.

Operating Function
A shunt capacitor bank retains electrical charge after it is disconnected from the network. The FDGE11 discharge coil is connected across the capacitor bank and provides a defined discharge path after switching. Unlike a conventional voltage transformer, its primary function is capacitor discharge, while secondary voltage output is used for measurement or protection when specified.
The referenced FDGE11 outdoor configuration specifies a discharge time of not more than 5 seconds. Final residual voltage, capacitor-bank capacity, connection arrangement, and discharge time should be confirmed according to the project requirements.
Construction and Design
The FDGE11 uses a fully sealed post-type structure with vacuum-cast epoxy resin insulation. The core and windings are encapsulated in resin to form a compact dry-type insulation system suitable for outdoor service, with resistance to moisture, electrical tracking, UV exposure and ageing. The sealed secondary terminal compartment helps reduce water ingress, while the oil-free design simplifies routine maintenance.
